Poster Mockup
Objective
This project objective is to create a series of three, professional quality, print ad posters that could be used in a Public Service Announcement (PSA) print campaign. These posters will promote an important issue or topic that affects individuals and communities.
A nonprofit organizations, of my choice or creation, as well as The Ad Council, has hired me to develop a three-piece print campaign. The posters should be compelling pieces of visual communication that clearly communicates my the concept clearly, and influences the audience to understand more fully the issue at hand. Most importantly the posters should motivate the audience to act.

The nonprofit organization I chose is the SPCAI, or Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals International. And the issue at hand is pet abandonment.
Message of Poster Campaign:
No matter for what reason a pet is abandoned, the animal is always the one that suffers most. Abandoning a pet is a horrible thing, everyone knows that. Even the people that abandon there pets know this. Someone has to be going through something incredible difficult to abandon a pet. This does not excuse people leaving there pets to fend for themselves, to get sick and likely die. People who abandon their pets, don’t want to be seen. It’s done in secret in remote areas. I want to shine a light on these people so that they feel shame and remorse for what they’ve done, or are thinking about doing, by showing what happens when pets are abandoned.

Abandoned animals suffer from, hunger, thirst, injuries, diseases, as well as feeling stressed, afraid, and confused. They can become a road risk by running into streets, and being run over. They are exposed to extreme weather conditions. Infant when I lived in Alberta, Canada, there was a big stray cat problem, and in the winters it would get down to -50 degrees Celsius (-58 Fahrenheit). This would lead cats to climb under the hoods of cars to warm themselves up next to the car engine. When people would start their cars, the cats would get seriously injured or die.

Some people may not think it’s a big deal leaving there pet to fend for themselves. They’re animals! They’re from the wild! Maybe they’ll be happier out there! All wrong. Abandoned pets will likely die due to starvation or exposure within weeks or a few months of being abandoned. Pets who are taken care of are fed, and they don’t have to learn to hunt or fight for their food. Their hunting drive and aggression has been bred out of them over years of domestication. Pets are also sheltered, loved, pampered, and taught to rely on humans. Leaving them on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere isn’t sending back to there natural habitat. It’s sending them to die.

In conclusion, people don’t care about what they don’t see, but pet abandonment is a gruesome thing. We need to face the hideous truth if it will ever stop. By raising awareness about this issue in a “in your face” kind of way, I believe will be an effective way to help prevent this issue.
